Prof. Dr. Francesca SPIGARELLI

Dr. Francesca Spigarelli is Professor of Applied Economics at the Department of Law at University of Macerata. In University of Macerata's administration she has been Vice Rector for Entrepreneurship and Technological Transfer, the European Research policy, the European Charter and Code for Researchers and European Research Policy since 2013. Since this year Francesca also holds the position of the Director of the China Center. Her main research fields are multinational enterprises from emerging countries, Chinese economy and growth as well as internationalization strategies of enterprises. With regard to teaching her main areas are applied economics and international business. She is also the Director of the Master program in "Global Management for China" at University of Macerata.
In the field of Entrepreneurship and PhD Francesca serves as the scientific coordinator of LUCI (Laboratory for Creativity and Humanism), an entrepreneurial program for post graduates, PhDs and early stage researchers at UniMC, since 2014. She is scientific coordinator of CreaHub, a co-working space for innovation and creativity and incubator for creative industries at UniMC started in 2016, and a member of the scientific committee of University of Macerata's PhD programme in Innovation and Law.
Furthermore Francesca is a member of the Steering Board of c.MET05, the National University Centre for Applied Economic Studies in Italy and she is a Member of the Executive Board of the Chinese Globalization Association.
On European level Francesca Spigarelli is Italian representative on the Permanent working group on Human Resources and Mobility of the European Research Area and Innovation Committee (ERAC) of the European Commission (since 2017). She also serves as Italian representative for the Shadow Strategic Programme Committee of the European Commission – sub group Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area, Horizon Europe. In the context of Sino-European EU-funded research Francesca is and was Coordinator/Vice Coordinator of several EU-projects like ongoing “PEOPLE MCSA ITN: Horizon 2020” HEART on HEalth related Activity Recognition system based on IoT (an interdisciplinary training program for young researchers), “PEOPLE MARIE CURIE ACTIONS FP7-PEOPLE-2012-IRSES” POREEN on Partnering Opportunities between Europe and China in the Renewable Energies and Environmental Industries (2013-2016) and “PEOPLE MARIE CURIE ACTIONS FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IRSES” CHETCH on China-Europe taking care of Healthcare solutions.
Francesca Spigarelli earned her Ph. D. at the Faculty of Economics, University of Pescara and University of Ancona (1999) and her B.A. in Economics at the University of Ancona, cum laude (1995).
